Bendigo weather
Bendigo is approximately 130 kilometres north of Melbourne and is currently the fourth most populous city in Victoria and the state's second largest inland city. Unlike most other large cities in Australia Bendigo has a continental climate with hot summer and cold winter.
The mean daily maximum temperature for January is 29C whilst the mean minimum is 14C. In July, the mean maximum is 13C with average July minimums a chilly 2C. Bendigo’s highest temperature was 44C on the 31st of January 2009. The city's lowest ever recorded temperatures was -6C on 6th September 1998.
Due to its location north of the ranges Bendigo has a low average yearly rainfall of only 477 millimetres, most of which falls during the winter and spring, with June and July both averaging 50mm. Since 2003 the city has suffered through a continuous spell of below average yearly rainfall. Snowfalls are virtually unknown, however frosts can be a common occurrence during the colder months.
