Tide times
Tide times are calculated on the relative positions of the sun and moon, and in turn, their varying gravitational influence on the Earth's seas and oceans.
There are other important factors, such as the shape of the coastline and the shape of the sea floor (bathymetry) that play a major part in tide times and heights.
These other factors are referred to as harmonic constants.
Meteorological factors such as atmospheric pressure, wind strength and wind can alter tide heights and times significantly from those advertised.
