Around 20 rivers across Victoria remain under a flood warning this morning with flood peaks today likely in Horsham, Shepparton and Yarrawonga.
The main area of flooding will head further downstream tomorrow with the Murray River towns of Corowa and Tocumwal expected to see flooding by Friday. Further downstream the towns of Deniliquin, Echuca and Barham can expect flooding next week.
Further upstream the rivers are receding but a pair of cold fronts will bring further rain to Victoria on Thursday and Friday, leading to renewed river rises. The latest output from forecast models indicate around 10mm of rain should fall over the flood affected region but around 20 to 30mm is likely on the northeast ranges. This rain should be enough to cause minor flooding along already flooded streams but thankfully a repeat of the current moderate to major flooding is unlikely.
The rain will clear on Saturday but a third front will bring further rain to Victoria on around Sunday and Monday.
The good news from the weekends deluge is Victoria's water storage levels are climbing rapidly. As a whole the state's storage level is now 46%, up 23% from this time last year. The Murray Darling storage level is now 55%, up 30% over the past year.
