Nick Rains has been photographing landscapes all over the world since leaving Swansea University in South Wales in 1983 .
In 1986 Nick shouldered a backpack and headed for Australia to pursue his interest in travel photography. Once in Australia, Nick landed a job working for Canon during the 1986 America's Cup in Fremantle.
Nick thoroughly enjoyed his 12 months in Perth covering the Americas Cup for a variety of International magazines, and when his Visa finally ran out, he headed back to England with a greater appreciation for professional photography. Nick then spent the next few years travelling between Germany, Turkey, Italy, France, and Spain shooting for the stock photography market and further developing his skills for landscape photography.
In 1990, Nick decided to immigrate to Australia and has been shooting our fabulous country ever since. Over the last 21 years Nick has travelled the length and breadth of Australia and has visited and photographed just about every major place of interest.
Throughout his career in Australia, Nick has worked with many organisations and has relished in seeing his works published by the Australian Tourism Commission, Tourism NSW, Penguin Books, Readers Digest Books, Shell Petroleum, BBC TV, Sports Illustrated, World Heritage Commission, Australian Geographic and many more.
Nicks’ also delights in knowing his prints grace the walls of homes and offices in 25 different countries around the world.
In more recent years Nick is focussing his attention on teaching and writing. He is a regular contributor to Better Photography magazine and Better Photoshop Techniques magazine, and thoroughly enjoys his role as editor of Better Digital Camera magazine.
Nick also enjoys a constant stream of speaking engagements, and conducts workshops in places like the Kimberly and Kakadu.
